As one of the largest commercial airfields in Germany, Schönhagen is developing into the most important reliever airfield for the capital's Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER/EDDB). With around 45,000 aircraft movements and almost 300 jobs in 41 companies, Schönhagen is one of the region's key economic locations.

Surrounded by the picturesque forest, heath and lake landscape of the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park, Schönhagen Airport is an ideal location for well-known flight schools, flying clubs and Restaurants. Whether for established companies such as Cirrus or Aquila: Schönhagen offers the optimal use of hangar space for the maintenance and development of aircraft. The airfield is not only a place for air traffic, but also an important research facility. Projects such as ITEAL (innovative fuels for low-emission air traffic) or ALADIN (Advanced Low Altitude Data Information System) show how the airfield is involved in innovative research and development projects.

The scenery of Schönhagen airfield contains many details and animations to explore as well as 5 complex features (EDAZ airfield, heliport Groß-Kreutz, helipad hospital Luckenwalde, animated helicopter at BER and the world balloon at Postdamer Platz).
